| On top of all that, the big-money GOP guys -- and they’ve been so sweet all along, until now-- they want me to run my life all different. Geez, who do they think they are! But they gave me a carrot and stick I couldn’t refuse, and anyway being Alaska Governor was just too much work, on top of everything else, so I had to quit. They made me quit right then and there. They were sooooo touchy about it.
I had to quit before I really knew what to do next. So I took some reporters fishing, and that worked out fine–– I didn’t get any hard-ball questions, thanks to my big-money pals who keep a tight reign on the mainstream media, just like they did in the Dan Rather/CBS thingie.
So now the book advance arrives, and lo and behold, everyone wants a piece of it. Well, we sure had some knock-down, drag-outs about that! Todd thinks he should get half. Bristol wants hot-and-cold-running nannies for the two babies plus something major “for all she went through.” Levi probably thinks we owe him, and he’s going to be really hard to handle if he has his own money all of a sudden. His Mom and sister are a big problem, too. They’re not the only ones.
You know, a million dollars ain't what it used to be!
So okay, we had a big argument, and somebody snitched to the bloggers. It’ll blow over.
I’ll be fine.

Start at 8:15 on this audio for The New Yorker's take on the resignation.

No hardball questions from Andrea Mitchell after Sarah Palin resigns.

Did the GOP influence media coverage in the Dan Rather vs. CBS case charging Bush with favorable treatment while in the military?

Levi says "marital problems" are why Sarah Palin quit as governor. But what does a kid know, right?
